Photographic vs. Digital Printing

Carlos asks:

I would like to know the difference between the digital printing and the photo paper development. I imagine, and this is what I want to clarify, that the photo paper development is done in a thinner paper while the other is done in foam core board, isn’t it? In the preparation of a Baptism photo book, what do you recommend me? Which one offers the most professional touch? Thank you very much.

Answer:

Hello Carlos. In my experience the photo books prepared with photo paper are spectacular. The difference between both printings are the same you’ll find between a photo developed on a high quality color printer (where shadows have a small granulate) and the one developed through a chemical process on a photo paper.

This is an example of two clouds coming from the same photo but with two different printings. They both were scanned from the photo book without any treatment or enhance.

Imagine the Hofmann photo book but in photo paper and with a 29x24 cm size. There’s no doubt! But you might also consider that the quality and clarity of the photos has to be good in order to not to see the defects.

We would like to add that the pages thickness for the photo paper photo books over 30 pages goes from 0,8 to 0,45 mm. Number of pages limit for them is 66.

As this is a family subject and probably you’d like to order several copies of it, we recommend you to order first only one and if you are happy with the result order the other copies.

I hope this has helped you!
